The drive
GDL to Zapopan, south to northwest
Boulevard Andares, in Zapopan's business district, is 18.3 miles from GDL Terminal 1, about 35 min free-flow. It is the longest of the regular transfers inside the metro area, because the airport is south of the city and Zapopan is on the far side of it.
The route heads north on MEX-23 toward the city, then swings west on Calzada Lázaro Cárdenas and north again on Avenida de la Patria to Andares. Zapopan's old center, around its Basilica, is slightly nearer.

Zapopan
A separate city inside the metro area
Zapopan is its own municipality, not a district of Guadalajara, though the two run into each other. For a visitor it has two quite different faces: the modern business and shopping district around Andares and Puerta de Hierro, with its hotels and office towers, and the old town around the Basilica of Zapopan.
Addresses matter here. Many of the Andares hotels and offices sit within larger complexes, so send the building or hotel name as well as the street address.

Old Zapopan
The old center, around the Basilica
Zapopan's historic center is a different place from Andares: a plaza, the Basilica of Zapopan and the streets around them, 17.5 miles from the airport. Hotels and guesthouses here are smaller and closer to the street.
Send the street address and the nearest cross street. The streets near the plaza are busy, and the cross street lets the driver choose the approach and the best place to stop before arriving. The price from the airport is never above the Andares figure, because the old center is the nearer of the two.

Every mile of this transfer after the airport road is urban, which makes it the one most exposed to traffic. The airport operator gives 35 minutes just to the city center, and TomTom's 2025 Traffic Index puts Guadalajara's average rush-hour speed at 17.4 km/h — a 10 km drive averages 28 min 18 s.

Meeting at the airport
GDL has 2 terminals, according to GAP, which runs it. We read yours from the flight number; the driver waits outside its arrivals exit with a sign showing your name, and the first 60 minutes after landing are free.

Why the distance is from Terminal 1
GAP lists two terminals at GDL, but the public map data we measure with shows only Terminal 1, so every GDL distance on these pages starts there. The two buildings are on the same airport site, and the quote follows your actual terminal and address.

A round trip is twice the one-way price, with the return pickup set from your departure flight. Booking both legs together means the drive back across the city is already arranged, with a pickup time that allows for the traffic, before you have landed.

Zapopan is also home to Estadio Akron, 19.1 miles from GDL and 7.4 from Andares. For a match or a concert the vehicle is best booked by the hour, so it waits through the event and leaves when the group is ready rather than being called into the crowd afterward.
