The cape
Cabo transportation: four zones, one airport
Los Cabos is not one town. It is two — San José del Cabo in the east and Cabo San Lucas at the tip — joined by the Tourist Corridor, an eighteen-mile run of resorts and coves along Mexican Federal Highway 1. Todos Santos sits well to the north on the Pacific side and is a different trip altogether.
SJD is at the San José end. That single fact explains most of the price grid below: San José is the short transfer, Cabo San Lucas the long one on the same road, and the Corridor sits between them depending on where along it you are staying.
Distance from SJD
- San José del Cabo
- 6.9 miles, about 15 min without traffic.
- Tourist Corridor
- 17.6 miles, about 30 min without traffic.
- Cabo San Lucas
- 26.1 miles, about 40 min without traffic.
- Todos Santos
- 70.3 miles, about 1 hr 40 without traffic.
Prices
Cabo airport transportation prices by zone
One price for the whole vehicle, so a couple and a family of five in the same SUV pay the same total. The grid gives the starting price for each zone; the exact quote follows your address, because a Corridor resort near Palmilla and one near Cabo del Sol are several miles apart.
Send the trip details and we reply with a fixed price for the whole vehicle.
| Zone | Miles | Drive time | Premium SUV | Executive SUV | Sprinter Executive | Motor Coach |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| San José del Cabo | 6.9 | about 15 min | $165 | $195 | $455 | $995 |
| Tourist Corridor | 17.6 | about 30 min | $210 | $245 | $505 | $1,065 |
| Cabo San Lucas | 26.1 | about 40 min | $240 | $280 | $545 | $1,120 |
| Todos Santos | 70.3 | about 1 hr 40 | $415 | $475 | $740 | $1,405 |
Pickup
Los Cabos International runs two passenger terminals, and the airport operator, Grupo Aeroportuario del Pacífico, describes them plainly. Check which one your flight uses on the airline confirmation — the airline, not the country you are flying from, decides it.
Your driver waits outside the arrivals exit, holding a sign with your name on it. Not inside the terminal. The exact spot is on your booking confirmation.
We track the inbound flight, so a delay moves the pickup at no cost. Waiting is free for the first 60 minutes after the aircraft lands, measured from landing rather than from when you clear customs.
Terminal 1
- All domestic operations and some international flights
Terminal 2
- International operations only
Arrivals
Between baggage claim and the exit doors at SJD there are desks and uniformed staff offering transport, activities and help with your booking. A great many of them are selling timeshare presentations, and some will tell you that your transfer is waiting with them.
It is not. Your driver is outside, past the doors, with your name on a sign. Nothing you need is between the carousel and the curb, and you do not have to stop, answer or explain.
If someone inside insists they have your booking, keep walking and call the number on your confirmation from outside.
Getting out of SJD
- Collect your bags and walk straight to the exit.
- Say nothing to anyone offering transport inside.
- Your driver is outside the doors, holding a name sign.
Which end
The two towns suit different trips. San José is the quieter one: an old mission town with a small art district, closest to the airport, where the evenings end early. Cabo San Lucas is the resort city at the tip, around the marina and Medano Beach, where they end late.
The Corridor between them is where the large resorts and the golf courses are, and it is the most self-contained of the three: many guests stay put and only travel in for dinner.
Getting between them is part of most stays. A dinner in San Lucas from a San José hotel is a real drive each way, and it is often better booked as a return trip than improvised with a taxi at the end of the night.
| Zone | What it is like | From SJD |
|---|---|---|
| San José del Cabo | Old town, art district, quieter evenings. The short transfer. | 6.9 mi |
| Tourist Corridor | Large resorts, golf, coves. Most self-contained. | 17.6 mi to Chileno Bay |
| Cabo San Lucas | The marina, Medano Beach, the nightlife. The long run on MEX 1. | 26.1 mi |
Hotels
Le Blanc Spa Resort Los Cabos, on the Transpeninsular Highway, comes from completed bookings rather than a list of names.
Any resort on the cape is quoted the same way. Give the exact name when you book, because on the Corridor it is the name, not the address, that gets a vehicle through the gate.
Naming your resort
- Give the resort's exact name, not the development's.
- Many resorts share a San José del Cabo municipal address.
- For a private villa, the villa number and gate contact.

Booking
The flight number, the terminal, the full name of the resort and the bag count. On the Corridor the resort name matters more than the address, because many properties sit on private roads off MEX 1 and are found by name at a gate.
On the cape the quoted fare covers tolls. The driver's tip is optional, a child seat is free if you mention it when booking, and canceling is free of charge until the last 24 hours.
Frequently Asked Questions
26.1 miles on MEX 1, about 40 min without traffic. SJD is at the San José end of the cape, so San Lucas is the long transfer.
6.9 miles, about 15 min. It is the closest town to SJD.
In practice, yes. Los Cabos International (SJD) is the airport most people call the Cabo San Lucas airport. It sits at the San José end of the cape, so Cabo San Lucas airport transportation is really the long run from SJD down the Corridor to the tip.
SJD has two passenger terminals. The operator describes Terminal 1 as serving all domestic operations and some international flights, and Terminal 2 as international only. Your airline decides which — check the confirmation.
Outside the arrivals exit, holding a sign with your name on it — not inside the terminal. The exact spot is on your booking confirmation.
Many are selling timeshare presentations, and some will say your transfer is with them. It is not. Walk past without stopping; your driver is outside the doors.
Per vehicle. The total covers everyone in the group, as long as they and the luggage fit.
No. It is a private vehicle for your party, going straight to your door with no other stops.
Send the resort's full name. Many properties sit on private roads off MEX 1 and are found by name at the gatehouse rather than by street address, so the name is what gets the driver through.
70.3 miles, about 1 hr 40 without traffic, north up the Pacific side on MEX 19.
We track it, so the pickup moves with the aircraft at no cost. Waiting is free for 60 minutes after landing.
