Palo Duro Canyon
Taking a group into Palo Duro Canyon
The park entrance is 29.7 miles from downtown Amarillo, through the town of Canyon on I-27, TX-217 and Park Road 5. From the gate, Texas Parks & Wildlife says it takes "about 20 minutes to reach most trailheads and activity areas", because the road descends from the rim to the canyon floor.
Two things from the park's own group guidance matter for a charter. Groups of 15 or more "may qualify for a discounted rate with advance notice", so contact the park before the trip rather than at the gate. And "parking is limited on busy days" — which is itself an argument for one vehicle instead of several cars.
The park's group page does not set rules for buses specifically — no size limits or unloading areas are published there. For a large coach, confirm the details with the park directly when you arrange the visit.

The TEXAS musical
Groups to the TEXAS outdoor musical
TEXAS is an outdoor musical staged through the summer at the Pioneer Amphitheatre, inside Palo Duro Canyon. Dates for each season are announced on texas-show.com.
Its group rules come from the show, not from us. The show's group pricing requires "a minimum of 20" for group show and dinner discounts. Its group booking form asks for the "mode of transportation to show & # of vehicles" and says a professional coach driver must be counted in the group totals — so include the driver when you book the tickets.
Rain does not stop it. In the show's own words: "There are NO refunds for rain. TEXAS is performed in the rain and seldom cancelled." Plan the group's evening on the assumption that it goes ahead.

Panhandle distances make every away game a real trip. Lubbock is two hours down I-27; Oklahoma City is four and a half on I-40; a tournament in the Dallas area is over three hundred miles. A team on a charter travels together, with its equipment, and arrives at the same time.
