Terminals
Terminal 1 or Terminal 2
MEX has two terminals, and they are separate buildings about a mile apart. Which one you use depends on the airline.
On the airport operator's official flight board on 2026-09-27, every Aeroméxico and Delta flight was listed at Terminal 2, and every other airline on AICM's list that had flights that day was at Terminal 1. AICM's own airline list does not publish terminals, so treat this as a dated snapshot: the terminal on your boarding pass, or on AICM's flight status, is the one that counts.
We read the terminal from your flight number, so you do not need to tell us — but it is worth knowing which building you are going back to on departure day.

Where you come out
Each terminal sends arriving passengers out through different halls, depending on whether the flight is domestic and, if not, where it came from. The airport publishes the halls, and they are where the driver waits — outside the exit, with a sign showing your name.
AICM also says how long the process takes: 20 to 50 minutes from landing to coming out on a domestic flight, 30 to 60 minutes on an international one. Our first 60 minutes of waiting are free, measured from landing, and we track the flight, so a delay moves the pickup rather than costing anything.

Prices from MEX by zone
The two terminals are close enough that the price rarely moves, but they are not the same distance from everywhere: Terminal 2 is nearer Roma, Condesa and Reforma, Terminal 1 nearer Polanco. The grid prices each zone from whichever terminal is farther, so your quote is never above it.

The curb
Why the driver meets you on foot
AICM does not allow vehicles to park on the roadway outside the terminal buildings; a car may stop there only to let passengers in or out. So the driver meets you at the exit on foot, with your name, and the vehicle comes to the curb once you are together, rather than waiting there for an arrival that may be an hour away.

Going back to MEX for a flight
AICM asks passengers to be at the airport 2 hours before a domestic flight and 3 hours before an international one. The drive has to be added on top of that — and the drive is where Mexico City is unpredictable.
TomTom's 2025 Traffic Index puts the city's average rush-hour speed at 13.5 km/h. We set departure pickups from the flight time backward with that in mind, not from the free-flow figure in the grid.
Tell us the terminal as well as the flight. The two buildings are separate, and the train that links them, the Aerotrén, is only for passengers with a connecting boarding pass, according to AICM — so being dropped at the wrong one is not a short walk to fix.
Other options
Authorized taxis at MEX
If you have not booked a car, the airport's authorized taxis are the official alternative. AICM sells their tickets from booths in the arrivals areas of both terminals, domestic and international. The UK government's travel advice for Mexico recommends using only authorized pre-paid taxis at airports.
A pre-booked driver differs in two ways: the price is agreed before you fly, and someone is waiting at a named point when you come out, so there is no queue at a booth after a long flight.
