The drive
MEX to Puebla on MEX-150D
Puebla's historic center is 79.4 miles from Terminal 1 and 77.4 from Terminal 2, about 2 hr with the roads clear.
The route leaves the airport onto Calzada Ignacio Zaragoza, the long avenue out of the east side of the city, and joins MEX-150D, the México–Puebla toll highway. From there it is highway almost to the door: over the mountains that close off the Valley of Mexico to the east, and down into Puebla, entering the city along its boulevards to the center.
Most of the distance is the highway, which is why this two-hour run is more predictable than a transfer across Mexico City itself. The slow part, when there is one, is usually getting out of the city on Zaragoza.

Puebla
Puebla, the city at the other end
Puebla is the capital of the state of the same name, and its historic center, with its churches, tiled façades and arcaded Zócalo, is a UNESCO World Heritage site. The distance on this page is measured to that Zócalo.
Hotels in the center are on narrow, busy streets laid out on a grid; the larger modern hotels are further out, along the boulevards. Send the exact address so the driver can plan the last mile, which in the center is often the slowest. If you are staying in Cholula or on the edge of the city, say so; the quote follows the address, not the Zócalo.
Terminals
Terminal 2 is slightly closer
For Puebla, Terminal 2 is 2.0 miles nearer than Terminal 1. The price above is from Terminal 1, the farther, so a Terminal 2 arrival is never quoted higher. On the airport operator's flight board, Aeroméxico and Delta used Terminal 2 and the other airlines Terminal 1 — the MEX page has the detail.
Either way, the driver waits outside your arrivals exit with a sign showing your name, and the first 60 minutes after landing are free.
Other options
The airport bus, and when a car is simpler
MEX has long-distance bus terminals of its own: AICM places them in Terminal 1's international area and at door 4 of Terminal 2, beside domestic arrivals. For a traveler with light luggage heading to central Puebla, the bus is a real option.
A car makes more sense with a family or a group, with a lot of luggage, with a hotel outside the center, or when you would rather not wait for a departure time after a long flight. It leaves when you come out and stops at your door.
