The drive
Miami to Key West on US-1
Key West is 162.3 miles from downtown Miami, about 4 hr 10 free-flow, measured to Mallory Square. The route leaves the city on US-1 and the toll expressways to the Homestead Extension of Florida's Turnpike, rejoins US-1 south of Homestead, and then runs the last 104.2 miles on US-1, the Overseas Highway, island to island down the Keys.
Along the way it crosses the Seven Mile Bridge, the longest of the Keys crossings, between Marathon and the Lower Keys. The tolls on the Miami end are included in the price.

One road
The only road in
Below the mainland there is no second route: the Overseas Highway is the road to Key West. That makes it a beautiful drive and an unforgiving one — a crash or a closure has no detour, and the traffic through the Upper Keys on a weekend moves at the pace of the slowest vehicle.

Four hours is long enough to want a stop, and the highway passes through Key Largo, Islamorada and Marathon before the Seven Mile Bridge. A meal or a break at any of them can be built into the quote; tell us when you book.
A day trip there and back is over eight hours of driving before any time in Key West, so most groups go one way and come back on another day. Both legs can be booked together.

Key West to Miami, or to a flight
The return is the same road and the same single lane of traffic in places, so a flight out of MIA needs the drive plus a real margin before the airline's check-in cut-off. Tell us the flights and we will suggest the pickup in Key West.
Watch the season too. The National Hurricane Center sets the Atlantic hurricane season at June 1 to November 30, and a storm can close the Keys; for a trip in those months, we agree what happens if the road does.
