The valley is nine cities in a row along one highway — Palm Springs, Cathedral City, Rancho Mirage, Palm Desert, Indian Wells, La Quinta, Indio and the two beyond — and a resort address in any of them is a different drive from the airport. That is why the city page matters more than the state one.

Airports
Three airports serve the desert
Palm Springs International (PSP) is the closest by a wide margin and the easy answer when the fares work.
Los Angeles (LAX) and San Diego (SAN) both have far more flights, and both are a long drive: roughly two and a half hours without traffic, and materially longer on a Friday. If the ticket is cheaper into LAX, price the transfer before deciding.

The choice is worth making deliberately rather than by fare alone. A cheap ticket into Los Angeles can be spent entirely on the transfer, and the drive is the part of the journey with no schedule and no refund attached to it.
Seasons
When California is busy
The desert runs opposite to the coast. Winter and spring are its season, because the summer heat empties it, so the expensive, booked-out months here are the ones that are quiet elsewhere in the state.
April is the peak: two Coachella weekends and Stagecoach after them, all at the same grounds in Indio. Vehicles for those weekends are taken months out, often before the lineups are announced.
Outside that, the valley fills for golf tournaments, tennis at Indian Wells and the long winter season of weddings and group stays. Midsummer is the one genuinely quiet stretch.
How it works
What applies on a California booking
Distance work is quoted on the vehicle and the miles. Event work is quoted by the hour with a four-hour minimum.
- The quoted price is for the whole vehicle, not per seat.
- Inbound flights are tracked, and a delay moves the pickup at no extra cost.
- Cancelling is free at any point up to 24 hours before the pickup time.
- Tolls are inside the quoted price; tips are not included and are discretionary.
